Well, what is addiction ? To put it mildy, addiction is … wanting something far too much than one can withstand, and also being unable to live/breathe/do our normal duties without this object, desire, or idea.
Well, this is Wikipedia’s definition of addiction:
The term “addiction” is used in many contexts to describe an obsession, compulsion, or excessive psychological dependence, such as: drug addiction (e.g. alcoholism), video game addiction, crime, money, work addiction, compulsive overeating, problem gambling, computer addiction, nicotine addiction, pornography addiction, etc.
In medical terminology, an addiction is a chronic neurobiologic disorder that has genetic, psychosocial, and environmental dimensions and is characterized by one of the following: the continued use of a substance despite its detrimental effects, impaired control over the use of a drug (compulsive behavior), and preoccupation with a drug’s use for non-therapeutic purposes (i.e. craving the drug).[1] Addiction is often accompanied by the presence of deviant behaviors (for instance stealing money and forging prescriptions) that are used to obtain a drug.

Well, now that you know what the holy Wikipedia’s definition is, let’s go on to talk about a very serious issue we have: Gaming addiction.
Gaming addiction, the idea that one cannot live without gaming; the idea that one cannot stop gaming; the idea that oneself must live in front of a PC/Console for their entire lifetime. Well, this idea is quite an interesting one. We have the WoW (World of Warcraft, for those of you that live in a damp hole with your mum in a church) addicts, and we have the “normal” addicts. When I say normal, I don’t mean, normal like you and I, but normal in the sense that they don’t play WoW. WoW is a game that has invaded many household and ruined many lives, and why people played it in the first place is a mystery I will never ever solve.

This unfortunate picture is only the first of many demotivationals mocking WoW. But in this picture lies a sad truth; that 40 year old virgins INDEED unite in their realms within. That is what depresses me. Fortunately there is a solution. You must buy a gun, and shoot yourself/them if they play WoW. Although this is a drastic measure, it must be undertaken, as this plague of WoW kids must be stopped. Go see a damn psychiatrist. They’ll help you out of your depressed slumbers beside the computer after a long sob and cry which followed the parting of ways between you and your warlock girlfriend.
Of course, this is only one of a billion addictions, so don’t think you’ve escaped it’s grip.
Other addictions include: SNSD, Maximum Tune, Initial D, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, WordPress, Blogspot, Facebook, Myspace, Porn, Gruesome fantasies, SNSD, Food, Drugs, Alcohol, SNSD, Fat People, Pillow fights, iPods, stealing, f***ing, defecating, urinating, Shopping (The bane of the male portion of the human race, unless you’re a queen)… The list goes on.

Subtle Suspense 
All is forgiven, so worry not.
I was a gaming addict, but no longer. The only thing is that I can’t simply just ‘cut down’ on my playing/using of whatever it is that I am hooked to. So basically, I’ve promised myself not to play video/computer games until I finish the HSC. The amount of free that this has given me on weekends would be good if I used it effectively.
People who play WoW have lives occasionally, but they are somewhat sad. I was watching something on television about some WoW player who married a woman who also played the game. They’d play on a daily basis, and one day their son came in and was shouting or something right next to the father, who then got a little bit annoyed and punched his kid in the noggin’, killing him.
If there was a ever a good sign that an addiction is NOT a good thing, that would be it.
Also, SNSD are not an addiction, they’re bringers of life. And by life, I refer to some form of happiness. Yes, egad, I know.
