Still Listening? September 2, 2011

I am, which isn’t exactly conducive to the study I should be doing, but you know what? You can go shove your judgment into a pocket and keep it for some real life situation where someone will care. That’s the best kind of judgment.

Anyway, this one’s just a short post before I actually attempt to study for tomorrow’s test (on a Saturday – a Saturday) which I should, at this point in time and logically speaking (with a side dish of whipped whips), fail. Yet I won’t because, well you know how it is, I don’t want the risk of ever having to take a subject more than once. Ever.

So yes, thank you for the music, the songs I’m singing.

Reiteration of Something You Use To Do. July 17, 2010

Yes, I’m writing a post. Yes, I know its been, like, forever. Yes, I know, I’m sorry for being gone for so long. A thousand apologies, our fine, fine readers.

As you know, I’m an avid fan of the sort of entertainment that flows through speakers and into our eardrums. And I know what you’re thinking. “Stop watching porn.”, but I can assure you that’s not the entertainment I am talking about. I’m talking about music, and only recently, have I been so goddamn attached to it again. I don’t mean like, if I don’t listen to it I’ll die. No no no. Nothing of the kind. More the appreciation for one’s blood, sweat and tears meaning a lot to a lot of people.

Youlike?

Gotta love it.

Oral is the Best July 8, 2010

What can I say? I’m a fan. So it’s around five minutes to two in the AM, but I’ve been studying for eleven hours and now I need to relieve myself. If you don’t like it, I’m not forcing you to read. In the same strain, however, please don’t go or I might get lonely. This is how I capture all my prey.

I’m not sure how many you have tried it, but singing out loud is a wonderful feeling. Even if you’re like me and can’t actually sing as defined by social standards and duplicate reality TV shows, it just feels so right.

I Love My Robots Furry July 5, 2010

In Soviet Russia, robots love you furry. Well, it’s not like I have the time to be doing this, I could be better spending it by doing English past papers, but I need some stress relief and I need to make this post because it’s been on my mind for almost a week now.

As most of you by now know, I listen to K-pop (i.e. Korean pop) quite avidly. As a result, I’ve lost a lot of contact with Western music. I have to say that I’ve really missed songs in which I understand the lyrics, even though I usually don’t care for them anyway. I actually used to watch videos of Korean idols performing covers of Western songs to try getting my fix, sadly enough. I’d laugh at all their mispronunciations because the phonetics of the Korean language are different than in English. If you’ve ever watched the Korean History Channel on Youtube, you would. If you haven’t, well today’s your lucky day.

It’s really not that good, pretty lame to tell you the truth, but it is quote-worthy. It’s fine, it gets hyped up by those who watch it, especially the Caucasians. Really, this is just a distraction an introduction.

Last week, feeling down in the dumps about all the K-pop I listen to, I went about finding Western music, or more accurately, non-Korean music. It was a magical experience.

Live performances as compared to Studio recordings by every artist – This one’s a serious post. April 21, 2010

Lol, yeah. Somewhat serious.

Anyway, the basic thing is this. I’ve noticed, and been a part of before, the crowd that seems to build when someone performs on stage, be they a band or a solo artist. However, a more notorious crowd is known as the internet. The internet is the essentially the world’s rumour mill collaborated with narrow-minded individuals who are not accepting of change, facts, of quite simply, other people’s ideas. As a few of you will probably know, I use to be an avid Linkin Park fan, which I still am, but to a lesser extent. And before that, it was Green Day. Now, its Taylor Swift (Yes, I’ve somewhat talked about her before, but shut up and let me finish). Yes, so she went of tune in her performance at the Grammy’s, but does that make her any less of an artist? I mean, I like Sum 41, and a great many of the songs. From The Hell Song to Walking Disaster, either way, they are some of the best. But, in all the videos that I’ve watched, I must admit that they are somewhat mediocre at live performances. So far, the only live performance I’ve enjoyed in regard to them was a performance of Pieces in Germany, I think. But that doesn’t make me think any less of them. It’s not necessary the way they sound, but more what they’re saying.

We’ll Have You Going Gaga April 13, 2010

Believe it or not, this won’t be a post on Lady Gaga, wonderful as I think she is. Nope, time for me to shamelessly pimp some music to you that you’re hopefully quite unfamiliar with. If not, kudos to you for knowing such quality sounds. But first for something that you should have heard before. If you haven’t, watch it buddy, I’m going to come down on you like a tonne of bricks.

Chitty chitty bang bang, we love you!

So how is this family classic relevant to anything at all? Well, unless you’ve been stalking me on Facebook or Twitter, you’re about to find out!

So, a few days ago, myself, Deft and a couple other of friends from our school went on a jolly trip around our city, the beloved land, Sydney.

Yes, I’m a Commie bastard, but what can I say? I’m joking. I’m as far from Communism as Judaism can be.

I’m sorry, I’ll stop being so … anti-culturalistic. Wait, communism isn’t a culture…

AH, I’m off topic!

On topic!

So, we went to the city. Yes, yes we did. I’ll say, it was rather interesting. It was fun, and awesome, and fun. Strangely enough, we managed to spend a good 12 hours together doing God-knows-what. However, we must all agree that the highlight of the night was Alan eating Wasabi.

Boy, was it hilarious.

The real shit.

We All Need a Fix Sometimes September 6, 2009

Edit: Much to my dismay, the first video I put up in this post did not live up to its expectations. It happens to be missing a short part after the song, where Jess says the most awesome “Sparkling” that you would have ever heard in your lives. I scoured Youtube for videos that did have this, but all the ones that used to have been removed. Now only a few all of you will know this “Sparkling” pinnacle… There is a video out there! Many thanks to a guest over at snsdkorean and SoShi Subs! I’ve replaced the previous video with the new one. It’s an actual clip from part of the whole radio show, so start watching at about 5:31 if you just want the song and “Sparkling”.

Of nostalgia, that is. It can give us that pickup that we need to get us through a tough day and it’s always soothing. Many things induce the feeling and the different ways in which we perceive them are quite diverse, affecting each of our senses, most of which I will not mention due to my current state of exhaustion.

Was That BDSM I heard you say? No! It's SNSD! August 21, 2009

Ever been curious about what’s out there in this rather rotund world in which we live? Ever hated something without giving it go first? I have. All the time, in regards to a myriad of subject materials. There are things in this world that we just can’t accept and as a result we fear them.

I was and suppose still am one of these people. But it’s nice to shed some skin once in a while, feel the warmth of the sun on myself. By that, I mean stay indoors cooped up in my room, roughly 5 metres by 6 metres, tap-tap-tapping away on my crappy, lappy keyboard. Every now and then, basically everyday, you come across something new (at least new to you) on the interwebs and you might be curious to find out what it’s all about. Otherwise you’ll either love the look/sound of it, or hate it, based on sheer taste.

Well, finally getting to the point of this post, I’d like to introduce to all of you, whether you know them or not, like them, love them, or despise their very essence¬† –¬† So Nyuh Shi Dae, also known as SNSD or SoShi.
